DentistScout is an Australian dental practice directory. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we pass it to. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
You can browse the entire directory without giving us anything. We never require an account.
If you use a “Request quotes” form on one of our cost guides, we collect your name, email address, postcode, the treatment you asked about, when you need it, and optionally your phone number and any notes you add.
We pass those details to dental practices near your postcode that offer that treatment, so they can contact you with a quote. That is the entire purpose of the form, and we only do it because you ticked the consent box. Those practices become responsible for the information once we send it, and they contact you directly — we are not party to what you agree with them.
We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone other than dental practices for the purpose you asked about. Requesting a quote costs nothing and puts you under no obligation to book.
Please don’t include medical or health information in the notes field. Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act and needs different handling — discuss anything clinical with the practice directly.
If you submit or claim a practice listing, we collect the business and contact details you provide so we can verify the listing against public records such as the Australian Business Register and the AHPRA register. Business details you give us are published on your listing; that is the point of claiming it. If you buy a paid listing, payment is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
We use Google Analytics 4 and our own first-party analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages visited, time on page, approximate geographic region. This is usage data, not identity data: we don’t use it to work out who you are, and our own analytics does not record phone numbers or email addresses even when you click them.
We use a minimal set of cookies for analytics and advertising. You can disable these in your browser settings at any time; the directory works fine without them.
DentistScout displays advertising via Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — including after you’ve sent a quote request. Email hello@decisionlab.com.au and we’ll action it. There is no charge. Note that once a quote request has gone to a practice, you’ll need to ask that practice directly to delete their copy.
If you think we’ve mishandled your information, email us first and we’ll try to sort it out. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
